Milton's Local Pest Control Team

Between 2001 and 2011, Milton grew faster than any other municipality in Canada, and the building hasn't really stopped. North of the 401 you'll find distribution centres, food plants and auto parts makers, with the Escarpment and Kelso just beyond. South of it, new subdivisions keep filling in. Frequently Asked Questions About Our Professional Pest Control Services
What should a pest control program include for a new distribution centre?
Start before the racking is full. Put bait stations in around the outside of the building, make sure dock seals and door sweeps close tight, and keep a clear gravel strip along the walls so rodents have nowhere to hide. Inside, set up traps and insect monitors along the walls and near the doors, and get a map of all of it. Starting clean is a lot easier than fixing a problem once stock is in. Warehouse plans usually run $175 to $200 a month.
How do you control flies in a food plant without spraying near product?
Most fly control in a food plant doesn't involve spraying at all. Air curtains and strip doors keep them out, positive air pressure helps, and fast clean-up of waste stops them from breeding. Insect light traps catch the ones that get in, as long as they're placed away from open product and out of sight of the outside doors, where they'd pull more flies in. The catch from those lights also tells us where the flies are coming from.
How fast can you respond to a pest problem at a business?
Most commercial calls get a response within 24 to 48 hours. For emergencies, like a rodent in a food area right before an inspection or a wasp nest beside a busy entrance, we're available 24/7. Clients on a regular plan also have their scheduled visits, so problems are usually caught before they turn into an emergency.
Why are there so many spiders in new houses?
New subdivisions are often built on old farmland, so there's a lot of insect life around while lawns and gardens get established. Spiders follow the insects, and new homes still have small gaps around windows, doors and utility lines that haven't been sealed. Outdoor lights pull in bugs at night too. A treatment around the outside of the house, sealing gaps and switching porch lights to yellow bulbs usually brings the numbers way down.
How do I get rid of fruit flies in my kitchen?
Find what they're breeding in. It's usually overripe fruit, a recycling bin with sticky cans, a potato or onion gone bad at the back of a cupboard, or the gunk inside a sink drain. Throw out the source, clean the bin and the drain, and the adults will die off within a week or two. A small dish of apple cider vinegar with a drop of dish soap catches the stragglers.
How do you keep wasps out of loading docks and dock levellers?
Wasps love the sheltered spaces around loading docks: the pits under dock levellers, the frames of dock shelters, hollow bumpers and the undersides of canopies. Those nests get bumped by trucks and staff every day, which is when people get stung. Check the docks in June and July while nests are still small, and keep garbage away from the dock doors. We inspect and treat the docks as part of our warehouse service.
How do mice get into trailers and shipping containers?
Trailers and containers that sit in the yard for weeks become shelter for mice, especially if there's product or packaging inside. They climb in through gaps around the doors and floor and nest in pallets and cartons. When the trailer gets backed up to a dock, the mice walk right into the warehouse. Inspect stored trailers before unloading, keep the yard clear of long grass and debris, and keep bait stations along the yard fence. See our commercial rodent control.
What should an employer do if bed bugs are found in a locker room?
Stay calm and act quickly. Bag any items where bugs were found, close off the area if you can, and call us to inspect the lockers, benches and break room. Let staff know what's happening without naming anyone, because bed bugs come from homes, buses and hotels, not from being dirty. Lockers that are emptied and cleaned regularly are much easier to inspect and treat. We do this kind of work in plants and warehouses through our factory programs.
Why are there ants in my new house?
When a new subdivision is built on old farmland, the ant colonies in the soil get disturbed but don't disappear. They move into the new lawns, under driveways and patios, and along the foundations of new homes, where they find small gaps that haven't been sealed yet. They come inside looking for food and water. Baits along their trails and sealing gaps around the foundation usually clear them up. Ant control costs $199 to $299.
Are centipedes dangerous to pets?
No. House centipedes aren't dangerous to cats or dogs, and lots of cats chase and eat them without any problem. At most, a pet that gets bitten might have a bit of swelling that goes away on its own. If your pet has a strong reaction to any bite or sting, call your vet. Seeing lots of centipedes usually means there's moisture and other bugs in the house, and that's what we'd look into.

Why us
Pest Control for Milton Warehouses, Food Plants and New Homes
Milton's industrial area north of the 401 is full of big buildings: distribution centres, food producers, auto parts plants and other manufacturers. Many of them are fairly new, and a new building is the best place to set up pest control properly. We put in warehouse programs, food plant programs and industrial pest control that start with a full plan and a device map, not a phone call after the first mouse shows up.

Food producers get audit-ready paperwork, pheromone traps for stored-product insects and fly control that keeps chemicals away from product. Every site gets scheduled visits around its shifts and a written report each time. Calls between visits usually get a response in a day or two.

Many of Milton's distribution centres are huge, and big buildings fail at the edges: dock doors, man doors and the gap where the wall meets the floor slab. A good program checks those on every visit. Inside, insect monitors along the walls and pheromone traps near any dry goods tell us early if something is getting in, long before it becomes a problem in the racking.

For homeowners, Milton's mix of new construction and nearby farmland means spiders, mice and ants are the usual calls. Homes near the Escarpment and Sixteen Mile Creek get their share of wasps and hornets as well. We also treat rats, house, carpenter and pharaoh ants, carpenter bees, cockroaches, bed bugs, centipedes, silverfish, flies, fruit flies, weevils and pantry beetles.

GTA Exterminators has been in business since 2017. Our technicians are licensed, insured and background checked, and we can come in an unmarked vehicle if you'd like. Call 647-849-4441 for a free estimate on a warehouse, a plant or your own house.
