Hamilton's Pest Control Team

Hamilton is still a working city. The harbour is Ontario's busiest port, steel is still made along the bay, and there's industry from the lower city up the Mountain and out to Stoney Creek. Our Hamilton team works in those industrial sites, warehouses and commercial buildings, and in homes from Dundas and Ancaster to the east end. Give the Hamilton team a call at 647-849-4441 for a free estimate. We pick up emergency calls 24/7.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Professional Pest Control Services
How do you handle pest control on large industrial sites?
On a big site, most of the work is at the perimeter. Rats and mice live along fence lines, rail spurs, storage yards and drainage ditches, so we set locked bait stations around the outside and check them on a schedule. Inside, we focus on the places people eat and store things: lunchrooms, locker rooms, offices and storerooms. Wasps on equipment and spiders in high ceilings get handled as part of the same program. Industrial sites usually run $300 to $600 a month.
Do you do commercial pest control at night or on weekends?
Yes. A lot of our commercial work happens outside business hours, because that's when restaurants are closed, offices are empty and production lines are down. We schedule around your shifts, and we're available 24/7 for emergencies, like a rodent in a food area or a wasp nest beside a door people use all day.
Why are there so many spider webs in our warehouse?
Spiders go where the food is, and in a warehouse that's usually the insects drawn to the lights. Bright lights over dock doors and in the high bays pull in moths and flies all night, and the spiders set up right beside them. Switching outdoor lights to a type that attracts fewer insects, or moving them away from the doors, makes a big difference. We can also treat the high areas and the racking, and clear the webs during the visit.
How do mice get into older brick houses?
Older Hamilton homes often have gaps in the mortar, old coal chutes, crumbling foundations and a hundred years of holes where pipes and wires were added. A mouse can squeeze through a hole smaller than a dime. We go around the outside and through the basement, find the openings and seal them with materials mice can't chew through, then trap the ones already inside. Mouse control for a home is $250 to $350.
How do I know if I have mice or rats?
Start with the droppings. Mouse droppings are small, about the size of a grain of rice. Rat droppings are much bigger, closer to a raisin. Rats also leave greasy rub marks along walls, make heavier thumping sounds at night and tend to stay in basements and on the ground floor, while mice will climb anywhere. Rats dig burrows outside, too. If you're not sure, we'll tell you during the inspection.
How do you control flies at a waste or recycling facility?
Waste and recycling sites have a constant supply of what house flies breed in: wet organic waste, residue in bins and runoff on the tipping floor. The core of fly control is moving waste quickly, washing down floors and bays on a schedule and keeping drainage clear. We add fly baits and treatments in the places they rest, and fly lights inside offices and break rooms. It's built into our industrial pest control programs.
How do rooming houses and shared housing deal with bed bugs?
Shared housing has more people coming and going and more shared spaces, so bed bugs spread fast if they're not caught early. Inspect rooms between tenants, encourage residents to report bites right away without fear of being blamed, and treat the affected room and the rooms around it together. Mattress encasements help, and good records help with the city and with tenants. We work with housing providers through our property management programs.
Why are rats worse near rail lines and industrial yards?
Rail lines and yards have everything rats want: spilled grain and food from cars and trucks, embankments that are easy to burrow into, and plenty of cover from scrap, pallets and long grass. They also travel along the tracks from one site to the next. If your building backs onto a line or yard, keep the strip along the fence clear, store pallets off the ground and keep locked bait stations along the property line. See our commercial rodent control.
How do I find a carpenter ant nest in my house?
Carpenter ants forage at night, so go looking after dark with a flashlight and follow the trail back to where they're going. Look for small piles of sawdust-like material under window frames, baseboards and door frames, and check areas where wood stays damp, like around leaky windows, bathrooms and the roof line. Sometimes you can hear a faint rustling in the wall. If you can't find it, our technicians will.
Should I be worried about rats in my neighbour's yard?
Yes, because rats travel. If your neighbour has rats in a shed, under a deck or around their compost, they'll check out your yard too, looking for food and a place to dig. Keep your garbage and compost sealed, pick up fallen fruit and bird seed, and look for burrows along your foundation and fences. Talking to your neighbour helps too, since the problem won't go away if only one yard is treated. Rat control for a home is $299 to $399.

Why us
Pest Control for Hamilton Industry, Warehouses and Homes
With the port, the steel mills, the airport's cargo business and a long list of manufacturers, Hamilton has a lot of heavy industry. Those sites come with big yards, rail lines, outdoor storage and plenty of doors, which is exactly what rats and mice like. Our Hamilton team runs industrial pest control programs, warehouse service and pest control for commercial buildings across the city.

We work around shifts, and we'll work at night and on weekends if that suits you. Every site gets a numbered device map and written reports, and we can give your safety team product information before any treatment. Problems between visits usually get a response within 24 to 48 hours.

Hamilton's older commercial buildings, along James Street and Barton Street and in the converted factories of the north end, come with their own problems: shared walls, old basements and a century of patched holes. Restaurants and shops in those buildings often deal with mice and cockroaches that live in the building rather than in any one unit, so we work with owners and tenants together to treat the whole building.

Hamilton homes, especially the older ones in the lower city, Westdale and around Locke Street, see a lot of mice and rats. Up the Mountain and in Stoney Creek, Ancaster and Waterdown, wasps, carpenter ants and spiders are common calls too. We also treat cockroaches, bed bugs, house and pharaoh ants, hornets, carpenter bees, centipedes, silverfish, flies, fruit flies, weevils and beetles.

GTA Exterminators has been in business since 2017, and our technicians are licensed, insured and background checked. We'll come in an unmarked vehicle if you ask. Call 647-849-4441 for a free estimate on your site or your home.
