Frequently Asked Questions About Our Professional Pest Control Services
How much does pest control cost for a large commercial facility?
Most mid-size and large facilities fall between $250 and $450 a month. The final number depends on square footage, how many doors and loading docks you have, how much outdoor area there is and what's been happening with pests so far. We start with a free on-site assessment, so the quote is based on your building and not a rough guess.
How do shopping and outlet centres handle pests across so many stores?
The weak spots are the shared areas: food courts, garbage and recycling rooms, loading areas and service corridors. If those aren't under control, every tenant ends up fighting the same mice and cockroaches. The best setup is one program run by the property, covering the common areas and the outside of the buildings, with tenants able to call us for their own units. That way someone is looking at the whole site, not just one store.
Who pays for pest control in a leased commercial unit?
It depends on your lease, so read it first. In many commercial leases, the landlord looks after the outside of the building and the common areas, and the tenant looks after the inside of their own unit. Food businesses are often required to keep their own pest control contract. If a problem is coming from a shared space or a neighbouring unit, bring the landlord in early, because treating one unit alone rarely fixes it.
Why do rural homes and farmhouses get so many mice?
Fields, barns, sheds and hedgerows are full of mice, and when the crops come off and the weather turns in the fall, your house is the warmest building around. Older farmhouses also have stone foundations and plenty of old openings for pipes and wires. Keep feed, seed and pet food in metal bins, move woodpiles away from the house, and seal gaps before October. Mouse control for a home is $250 to $350.
How do I get rid of a hornet nest in a tree or hedge?
Those grey, football-shaped paper nests hanging in trees and hedges usually belong to bald-faced hornets. They defend the nest hard, and they'll come after you if you bump it with a hedge trimmer or lawn mower. Don't knock it down or spray it from close up. We treat it from a safe distance, usually in the evening when the hornets are inside, and remove it once it's dead. Nest removal for a home costs $150 to $250.
What should a retail store do about bed bugs in a fitting room or returned clothing?
It's rare, but it happens, usually with returned clothing or a customer who brings them in on a coat or bag. If staff find a bug, bag the item in plastic right away, close the fitting room and call us. We'll inspect the fitting rooms, seating and stockroom. Returned clothing that looks suspicious can go through a hot dryer cycle before it goes back on the floor. Staff who know the signs catch it early. See our retail store service.
Do outdoor bait stations attract more mice to a building?
No. That's a common worry, but bait stations don't pull mice in from far away. Mice find them while they're already travelling along the walls of your building looking for a way in. The stations catch them before they get inside. They work best along the outside walls, near doors and at the corners, locked and checked on a schedule. Our commercial rodent control includes a map of every station.
Can carpenter ants damage barns and farm buildings?
Yes. Barns, sheds and other wood farm buildings have plenty of old, damp wood: posts in the ground, sill plates, roof boards that leak and wood stored against the walls. Carpenter ants nest in that wood and widen their tunnels over the years. Look for large black ants and small piles of sawdust-like material under beams. We treat the nest and point out the wet wood that needs fixing. We handle farms and rural properties as part of our business service.
Do mice carry diseases?
They can. Deer mice, which are common in rural areas, can carry hantavirus, which spreads through dust from their droppings and urine. House mice can spread salmonella and other germs to food and counters. That's why droppings should be wet down with disinfectant and wiped up, never swept or vacuumed dry. If you have mice in the house, it's worth dealing with them quickly. Mouse control for a home is $250 to $350.
What are the black beetles in my basement?
In houses near fields and woods, they're usually ground beetles. They live outside under leaves, rocks and mulch, and they wander in through gaps under doors and around basement windows, especially after rain. They don't bite, don't damage anything and usually die indoors because there's nothing for them to eat. Sealing gaps at the bottom of doors and around windows, and pulling mulch back from the foundation, keeps them outside.

Why us
Commercial Pest Control for Halton Hills, From the 401 to Acton
Halton Hills isn't just a rural town anymore. The new employment area between the 401 and Steeles Avenue is bringing in distribution centres, manufacturers and large commercial buildings, and the outlet and retail centres draw shoppers from all over. Our Halton Hills team sets up facility pest control and warehouse programs for those sites, and works with retail stores and property managers on the shared areas.

New buildings are the best time to start. If the bait stations, door seals and monitoring are in place before the racking fills up, you rarely end up with a serious problem. For existing buildings, we start with a full inspection and build from there. Every client gets a site map, scheduled visits and written reports, and most commercial calls get a response within 24 to 48 hours.

For the warehouses and plants near the 401, the biggest risk is the open land that still surrounds a lot of the new buildings. Fields and construction sites next door keep mice and rats close by, and they'll use any open dock door or gap under a man door. Clear ground along the walls, tight door seals and exterior stations checked on a schedule keep that pressure outside, where it belongs.

In Acton, the town once known as Leathertown for its big tannery, and in the villages and farms around it, mice are the big problem, along with wasps, hornets and carpenter ants. We also treat rats, house and pharaoh ants, carpenter bees, cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders, centipedes, silverfish, flies, fruit flies, weevils and beetles.

We've been in business since 2017, and we're licensed, insured and covered by WSIB. Ask for an unmarked vehicle if you'd like one. A call to 647-849-4441 gets you a free estimate.
