Frequently Asked Questions About Our Professional Pest Control Services
What pests show up in plant lunchrooms and locker rooms?
Lunchrooms and locker rooms are where most pest problems in a plant begin. Food left in lockers, crumbs under vending machines and microwaves, and garbage that sits overnight bring in German cockroaches, mice and ants. Cockroaches also arrive in lunch bags and backpacks from home. Keeping food out of lockers, emptying garbage every shift and cleaning under appliances weekly makes a big difference. We check those rooms on every visit.
How much does pest control cost for a factory?
Factory plans usually run $200 to $500 a month. The price depends on the size of the building, how many entry points there are and what kind of work happens inside. Plans include scheduled visits, a device map, written reports and emergency response between visits if something comes up. We work around your shifts so production doesn't stop.
How should landlords deal with cockroaches in a multi-unit building?
Treat the problem units and the units around them at the same time, not one at a time. German cockroaches move through shared walls and plumbing, so treating a single unit just pushes them next door. Give tenants written notice and a prep sheet, follow up about two weeks later, and keep records of every visit. If one tenant won't prepare, document it, because it affects the whole building.
What attracts rats to my yard?
Food and cover. Bird feeders, compost bins, fallen fruit, pet food left outside and garbage bags all feed them. Woodpiles, sheds, decks and overgrown corners give them places to hide and burrow. Take away the food first. Then look for holes along the foundation, under the shed and under the deck. Rat control for a home costs $299 to $399 and includes bait stations outside and sealing any holes into the house.
Do bed bugs only live in beds?
No. Beds are their favourite spot because that's where people sleep, but bed bugs also hide in couches, recliners, baseboards, picture frames, electrical outlets, curtains and the seams of luggage. In a bad infestation, they can be anywhere near where people sit or sleep. That's why a proper treatment covers the whole room, not just the mattress.
How do campus residences and student housing handle bed bugs?
Move-in week is the riskiest time, because students bring luggage, used furniture and bedding from all over. Ask residents to report bites or bugs right away, inspect the rooms around any report, and treat the affected rooms together. Hard-surface furniture and mattress encasements make inspection easier. Clear communication matters, so students don't hide the problem out of embarrassment. We work with housing providers through our property management programs.
Are wasps a safety hazard for workers at height?
Yes. A wasp sting is painful, but the bigger danger is someone getting stung on a ladder, a lift or a roof and falling. Nests are common in the places workers reach at height: under rooflines, inside light fixtures, behind signs and around rooftop equipment. Check work areas before jobs begin in summer and treat nests before crews go up. We handle this for plants and industrial sites through our industrial pest control.
What should a landlord do about rats at a rental property?
In Ontario, landlords are responsible for keeping rental properties in good repair, and that includes dealing with pests like rats. Find out where they're coming from: burrows along the foundation, gaps around pipes, garbage areas or a shed. Give tenants clear rules about garbage and compost, seal entry points and put locked bait stations outside. Give written notice before entering units. We handle rental properties through our commercial rodent control.
What's the best mouse trap?
For most homes, a simple snap trap works best. Put a small amount of peanut butter on it and set it against the wall with the trigger end touching the wall, because mice run along edges. Use several, not just one, and put them where you've seen droppings. Check them every day. We don't recommend glue traps, because they're cruel and don't solve the problem. If you're catching mice for weeks, they're getting in somewhere, and that's what needs fixing.
How do I get rid of carpenter bees without chemicals?
Carpenter bees prefer bare, weathered wood, so painting or staining decks, fascia boards and fences is the best prevention. Existing holes can be plugged with wood dowels and wood glue or filler in late fall, after the bees are done for the season. Some people hang carpenter bee traps near problem spots in spring. If you have a lot of holes and they keep coming back, a targeted treatment of the holes followed by plugging them is the most reliable fix.

Why us
Pest Control for Oshawa Plants, Rentals and Homes
Oshawa's economy still revolves around the auto industry, with GM's plant and the suppliers, warehouses and trucking companies that support it. Those buildings have lunchrooms, locker rooms, shipping docks and outdoor storage, and every one of them can bring in pests. Our Oshawa team runs factory programs and manufacturing pest control built around shift schedules and safety rules.

Oshawa also has a lot of rental housing, from student places near the college and university to older apartment buildings downtown. Our property management plans give landlords one contact, scheduled visits for common areas and fast treatment when tenants report a problem. Most commercial calls get a response within 24 to 48 hours.

Oshawa's port and the industrial land along the lake and the 401 handle steel, auto parts and bulk goods, and those sites have big outdoor yards where rats can live all year. We deal with them using locked bait stations along fences and building walls, checked on a set schedule, and we look for burrows along rail spurs, retaining walls and drainage ditches, which is where rats like to dig.

At home, Oshawa's most common problems are mice in the fall, rats in older neighbourhoods and wasps in late summer. We also treat house, carpenter and pharaoh ants, hornets, carpenter bees, cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders, centipedes, silverfish, flies, fruit flies, weevils and beetles.
