Exterminator for Residential & Commercial Properties
Guelph Pest Control From a Local Team
John Galt founded Guelph in 1827, and the city has been tied to farming and food ever since, thanks in large part to the university and its agricultural college. Today Guelph has one of Ontario's biggest clusters of food and agri-business companies, plus plenty of manufacturing. Our Guelph team works in food plants, breweries, factories and student rentals, and in homes across the city. Call 647-849-4441 to arrange a free estimate. Emergencies are handled 24/7.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Professional Pest Control Services
How do breweries and distilleries get rid of fruit flies?
Fruit flies love anything fermenting, so a brewery is paradise for them. They breed in the film inside floor drains, in spent grain, under mats, in damp hoses and in the corners nobody gets to every day. Traps and fly lights help, but the real fix is finding and cleaning out every place they're breeding. We'll walk the brewhouse, cellar and taproom with you, find the sources and set up a plan to keep them down.
How often should a food plant have pest control visits?
It depends on your audit standard, what you make and what your risk assessment says. Most food plants we work with are on weekly, every-two-weeks or monthly service, and busier plants with raw ingredients or open product need more frequent visits. The schedule should be written into your pest control program, and every visit should leave a report you can hand to an auditor.
How do landlords deal with pests in student rentals?
Student houses change hands every year, and bed bugs and cockroaches often move in with used furniture and moving boxes. The best time to inspect is between tenants, before the new people arrive. During the year, ask tenants to report anything right away instead of waiting until April. For landlords with several properties, a property management plan puts everything under one agreement. Those usually run $200 to $400 a month.
Are flying ants in the house a sign of a nest inside?
Often, yes. Winged ants are a colony's future kings and queens, and they only show up when a nest is mature. If you're seeing them inside, especially in late winter or early spring, the nest is probably in your walls, floor or roof. Carpenter ants and pavement ants are the usual suspects. Don't just vacuum them up and forget about it. Call for an inspection so we can find the nest.
How do I keep mice out of my house in the fall?
Mice start moving in when the nights get cold, usually September through November. Walk around the outside of your house and look for gaps where pipes, wires and the gas line come in, gaps under the garage door and cracked weatherstripping. Seal them with steel wool and caulk or metal flashing, not foam alone, because mice chew through foam. Keep firewood and bird seed away from the house. If you're already hearing them, mouse control costs $250 to $350.
How do you control cockroaches in a food plant?
Cockroaches in food plants hide near heat and moisture: under equipment, inside motors and control boxes, along drains and behind wall panels. Treatment has to fit food safety rules, so we use gel baits in cracks away from product, insect growth regulators, sticky monitors to track activity and thorough documentation for your auditor. Sanitation crews help by cleaning under and behind equipment on a schedule. It's all part of our food processing pest control.
Why do pharaoh ants show up in labs, hospitals and care homes?
Pharaoh ants love warm buildings with lots of plumbing and moisture, and labs, hospitals and long-term care homes have both. They're more than a nuisance there, because they can travel through sterile areas, wound dressings and supplies. Spraying makes the colony split, so we use slow-acting baits placed out of sight and work with your infection control team on timing and placement. It's part of our facility programs.
How do breweries keep rats away from spent grain?
Spent grain is a feast for rats, especially when it sits in open bins behind the building waiting for pickup. Use covered bins, have it picked up often, ideally the same day, and clean up spills around the bins and loading area. Keep the bin area away from doors and building walls. We place locked bait stations around the outside and traps near entry points, and check them on every visit. You can read more about our commercial rodent control.
How can students avoid bringing bed bugs home with used furniture?
Be careful with couches, mattresses and upholstered chairs from curbside, online listings or previous tenants. Before anything comes inside, check the seams, buttons and underside with a flashlight for small dark spots, shed skins or the bugs themselves. Skip used mattresses completely if you can. Wash and dry any second-hand clothing and bedding on high heat before using it. If you've already moved something in and start getting bites, call for an inspection before it spreads.
Are the big spiders in my garden dangerous?
No. The big spiders you see in webs in the garden in late summer are usually orb weavers, like the cross spider or the yellow and black garden spider. They look impressive, but they're harmless to people and they catch a lot of flies and other insects. If one has built a web across a doorway or a path, you can just move it with a stick. They don't need to be treated unless they're all over the outside of the house.

Why us
Pest Control for Guelph Food Businesses, Manufacturers and Rentals
Guelph is one of Ontario's food cities. Between the university's agricultural research, the meat and food plants, the breweries and the big manufacturers, a lot of the local economy depends on clean buildings and passed audits. We set up food processing pest control and manufacturing programs built around those audits, with full documentation and visits scheduled around production.
Guelph's rental housing needs attention too. With thousands of students coming and going every year, bed bugs and cockroaches move between houses and buildings fast. Our property management plans cover multiple addresses under one agreement, with inspections between tenancies and quick response when a tenant reports something. Most calls from landlords and businesses get a response within 24 to 48 hours.
Food plants in Guelph get audited often, so our programs are built to pass. That means numbered devices on a site map, pheromone traps for stored-product insects like beetles and weevils, fly lights placed away from product, bait kept outside production areas, and trend reports that show what's happening over months, not just on one visit. When an auditor asks a question, the answer is already in the binder.
Guelph homes, especially the older ones near downtown and the rivers, see mice in the fall, carpenter ants and flying ants in the spring, and wasps in late summer. We also treat rats, house ants, pharaoh ants, hornets, carpenter bees, cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders, centipedes, silverfish, flies, fruit flies, weevils and beetles.
Since 2017, we've built our business on showing up when we say we will. Our technicians are licensed and insured, and they can come in an unmarked vehicle. Call 647-849-4441 to book a free estimate.
